biking

there are only five days left of the ironman triathlon that a friend and i signed up for. here’s where i am at:

swimming: 13 remaining laps, have completed 72 laps

running: 6 remaining miles, have completed 20.2 miles

biking: 67 remaining miles, have completed 45 miles

elise and i were hoping to get in a nearly 70 mile bike ride yesterday but heavy winds and cold weather made us choose to turn around early, clocking a 34 mile ride instead. it is now snowing so i’m headed to the university gym to log some miles on a stationary bike. not my first choice, but it’s exercise and it would be fun to complete this challenge. i could never do a real ironman triathlon (at one time) and wouldn’t really want to, but doing it over three weeks is a fun goal.

elise and me post 34 mile bike ride. it was a essentially flat route, but there was a crazy headwind (and what do you know, the wind switched directions once we turned around, no joke) and our feet were freezing. it never crossed my mind that your feet could go numb while biking

i hope to complete the challenge because i like to finish things i start and i want the $5 registration fee to result in a finisher’s t-shirt!
