more harvested creations

i’ve been reading some food and homesteading blogs lately and i’m often curious to see what other people cook or in general how they use goodies from their garden. and since i love both food and pictures i tend to combine the two πŸ™‚ a few recent creations and random pics:

this was venison fajitas. hit the spot.

i’ve never grown carrots before but garden carrots are delicious!

forgot to mention this in the last post – anyone who has been a camper or counselor at honeyrock knows that every camping trip includes banana bread! so of course i had to make some for our camping trip with april. and i made 2 little ones that randy and i could enjoy for breakfast πŸ™‚

this sunset was beautiful (en route to the flathead, taken from the moving car)

managed to not get the car this time πŸ™‚

first BLT of the season! i splurged and bought bacon for randy. i had a tomato, avocado, red onion, lettuce (from the garden) and sprouts sandwich. can’t wait for our own tomatoes and onions to be ready. and these chips are all natural made by a company called “boulder.” i’m typically not a chip person but these are great! fun flavors, too.

tonight we made a coconut-peanut rice dish. made the rice in our new rice cooker and most of the veggies (carrots, green onion, broccoli, pea pods) were from our garden. and yes, that’s tofu you see. first time purchasing it. it was on sale. i thought perhaps i could manage it with rice & peanut sauce. i’d say manage is an accurate word. that said, randy has already (by choice) packed the rest of it for his lunch tomorrow! he “doesn’t like it, but doesn’t dislike it.”

heading out camping this weekend (noticing a theme?) and i’m already starting to ponder food options… πŸ™‚
