a birthday complete with good eats
well, i basically ate my way through my birthday. but it was delicious! i didn’t have to work on friday and i worked on saturday instead. wasn’t even planned because of my birthday, the nanny family just asked me to switch days this week.
first i went to krista and randy’s house for breakfast. i walked in and krista was making waffles (i love anything in the pancake/waffle/french toast family). i said, “i have a waffle maker just like that!” to which randy replied, “well, that is your waffle maker. i took it from your house.” love the forethought. and what are waffles in montana without homemade huckleberry syrup? so tasty. add to that some whipped cream, eggs, bacon (for those cholesterol eaters), coffee & orange juice and i had a great birthday breakfast.
then krista and i strolled around downtown missoula shopping in various boutiques and fun local stores. it was a beautiful day – sunny and in the high 50’s!
then randy got out of class and took me out for a birthday lunch at a local pizza place we’ve been wanting to try (have i mentioned that we love pizza? cuz we do). they have a unique menu but we decided on the “local” pizza: flathead cherry:
then randy and i took the dogs to a dog park (which is along the river, full of trails, etc.) and ran errands. marty and darla were in town for elly’s choir concert so we all went out to dinner afterwards.
and, i was able to talk to everyone in my family, so it was all around a great day. thanks to all of you who made my birthday special. ohhhh, and randy surprised me with tickets to my first country music concert! it’s in april and i’ll be wearing my new rose belt buckle that i got for my birthday 🙂 excited!
