field work

this past week we were in the field nearly every day. there were two other scientists that were here for the week from another part of south africa. it was fun (and helpful!) to have them join. the plan is to start putting transmitters on crocs – it is quite a process and was neat to be a part of the first croc to get a transmitter put on it. jon and xander can track it on the internet.

has been a calm saturday so far, which is nice after a full week. we may go on a big camping trip next week – we’ll see what works out. despite being scared now and again i am becoming ever so slightly more familiar with the african bush. it’s still a new idea for me to look for hippos or leopard when crossing the street at night. haven’t seen any leopard yet but have both seen and heard hippo. lekker.

would upload even more pictures, but the blog has been silly lately, so this is all for now.
